    Series iii dash

    Hi all
I need to replace my dash due to the metal rusting out completely. I am wondering if anyone has made up any CAD files of the upper and lower dash? TIA

Lets face it, the worst thing about the Series3 is the crap plastic dash, whats worse is they rust .
If I had a Series 3 with dash issues I'd be doing what this bloke did . He stripped the whole thing out & built a home made shelves & brackets to house a Series 2 dash (EV conversion too) . Best looking Series 3 interior Ive seen.

And the baloney about ADR soft dash does not seem to be a bother with rego, Series 3 Lightweights up to 1985 had Series 2 style dash , never any rego issues here.

That looks great! And yes, I doubt that any desk jockey at Vicroads would know the difference. But you might need an understanding RWC tester or engineer. But it's interesting to me as I have a SIII.

Funny, in the OKA (1993) any impact absorption in the cab is the job of the occupant. Light truck though.

I have repaired rusty S3 dash panels by sika glueing new steel sheet over the rusted holes. Others have fibreglassed over the rusty areas to stiffen them up.

Don, I have gone the other way, with a modified S3 dash (including bulkhead) in to a S2A FC. I wanted a few mod cons to entice the better half in to the "truck", and needed the demisters etc anyway. The instrument binnacle is custom to hold more gauges, and has a centre touch screen audio unit, mainly for the reversing camera.

Nice work, it does look a bit posh,

The steering wheel was the largest after market wheel I could find for the RRC column I've used. I've got power steering but it feels too small. After I've got it past engineering, I might turn down the boss to fit another wheel I have, which is slightly larger, or try to find an early RRC wheel for a reasonable price....

    Dash

I have a spare dash top floating around the shed. It is just the bare metal (undercoated). So, it will need the foam pad and vinyl.
    No reasonable (beer) offer refused.
Also happy to send some pics if you'd like to recreate it, or you can pop in and borrow it if you're local.

    Cheers

I found a donor dash that is in better condition than mine. The metal needs a bit of cleaning up (just surface rust) but the soft vinyl is in good condition.

I have a 2A FC I have had for 50 years. I tried the series 3 firewall for a few years but swapped it back as I couldnt get much airflow through the S3 vents.
I run a 4BD1 through a Perentie Lt95 now with ford car ram type power steer.
What power steer unit did you use on this one?

    Hi Keith.
It's a Toyota 60 series power steering box, with Hiace bevel box (as Toyota all use the same shaft diameter and spline counts. I transitioned to a RRC steering column by splitting a rag joint and using one metric and one imperial half.

There is a photo at post #61 here.
