Thanks for getting back on this issue, I've got a Bearmach cable on order from the UK so I'll see how that one goes.
It's a shame vendors are still selling these cables if there are known issues.

It is, but it's the game now. It's also potluck with BP, as they use various suppliers/manufacturers and send what they have. Sometimes, although rarely these days, you might luck out and get genuine.

I've got a Bearmach cable in my S3 SWB daily.
No issues after 5 years and 35,000klms.

Sounds like the Bearmach should do the trick then.
