From * check rear as well!

Wheel alignment;- The only adjustment is toe in. Misalignment will also be caused by loose swivels or wheel bearings or a bent front axle housing, or sagged or broken springs, all possible.

Hi John,

So after doing some research, I found that ambulance in the UK ran an anti roll bar front and rear in the 109.

And there is a guy that installed one to his 109, with being his daily vehicle. He reported back less tippy when cornering

He only fitted the rear ARB, and with stiffer springs up front.

He didn't suffer from over steering.

There is a mob in VIC ( Les Richmond automotive ) that offer a ARB kit, but wanting to hear from them if the kit can be fitted to my 109.

Now would a wider tyre track help with stability to a degree ?

Now I know my front tyre's have feathered edge, and having this happen on my DMAX s before. It's hard to get the tyre to come good.

Or would fitting an anti roll bar be a better


Now I'm not expecting my S3 to handle like a new car by any means, but being my daily ( with the occasional off-road when camping )

It'd be nice to have less tippy motion, and like I said in my previous post.

Once I address the handling, I'll start to look at the camper section

A wider track won't help unless you move the springs further apart which would be a lot of work.

A trip to a wreckers with a tape measure might score an ARB off something.

Never a dull moment working on old cars hey LOL

So after struggling all weekend trying to get the thermostat housing to put in a new thermostat and hose ,with no great success, and impossible trying to find a second hand one.

I contacted a guy in Sydney looking for parts and advice about putting a 2.8lt Isuzu engine in my S3, after listening to Peter.

I ended up buying a donar car 1990s Land Rover discovery 5spd manual 300tdi from Peter.

I feel this is a better option moving forward with the vehicle and having to get parts if need be for the engine.

So now I'll in-joy the vehicle ( and hopefully the thermostat housing doesn't leak ).

And start collecting the required parts for doing the conversion.

So after finally getting the thermostat housing off, and redo coolant etc.

The water pump has started leaking, so I went down to my local auto parts store.

To my surprise GMB offers a water for the 6cyl engine, only cost me $195 delivered to the store

I'm interested to hear if the pump is correct when it turns up.
The 6-cyl pumps haven't been available for some time, I've been repairing them.

If they are readily available I'll buy one as a spare.

Interestingly it is about the same price as a GMB water pump for a current model 6 cylinder defender.

Well all, it turns out the parts supplier ( GMB ) listed the 2.6 petrol water pump with the 2.25 petrol 🙄.

So after finding out this, I ended up going to Kotara 4x4 to have the water pump rebuilt.

Not a cheap exercise, the saving grace was the fact the water pump was in good condition.

I looked into getting pumps rebuilt some time ago, it was quite expensive so after taking advice I repaired my own.
I also lucked across some NOS pumps which I sold on at the time.
6 cylinder water pump recon with 4 cyl rebuild kit
