Yeah thanks Colin, yeah not cheap.

So anyway got the Landy running today, still blows my mind that it starts first kick.

So after bleeding the air out of the system and holding temperature, I took it for a drive.

One thing I noticed with running the 82° thermostat, is it sits slightly bit higher on the temperature gauge.

Then as I got closer to the beach this afternoon, I noticed the temperature wasn't coming down 🙄.

Upon inspection of the radiator, it turns out that I'll need to replace it as well now

The copper core is that soft, you can push it with your fingers.

Along with oil and debris in the radiator core.

I still don't know how I made it back home when I bought it, it never got over half way on the temperature gauge.

I'm thinking about putting the old thermostat 77° ?

So I ended up buying a cheap eBay radiator, along with a Davies Craig Thermo temperature control.

Oddly enough the eBay radiator was a direct fit, the only thing is the top radiator outlet is at 90° and not the 45°.

So I ended buying a Nissan top radiator hose.

Once I got it running, the carburetor packed it in, so I got a rebuilt exchange one from Kotara 4x4.

It runs a lot better now, but the only thing that has me scratching my head is the temperature gauge.

Before doing all the maintenance repairs, it would run at 1/2 hot with the fixed blade fan.

Now after I did all the work, it's now running between half way and just below the H.

So after realizing that the fixed blade fan wasn't pulling enough air, I ended up buying a Thermo fan ( 1350cfm and a 75° thermostat )

But still no change in temperature gauge

So after speaking with Peter from Kotara 4x4, I bought a in expensive infrared gun to check the temperature when running.

So it turns out it wasn't running, I ended up putting another temp gauge due to the factory one not operating properly.

So after adjusting Thermo fan to run correctly, I spoke with our mechanic that services our work trucks.

He checked the timing for me, and mentioned that the mechanically advance was worn out,

So I pulled the distributor apart gave it a clean, and now it is more stable when I have the timing light on it.

So after burning out my third condenser ( yeah I know ).

After doing some research, I realized the earth cable and the power cable inside the distributor had to much resistance ( and lose connections )

I did come across a company on eBay about to release a complete electronic distributor for the 6cyl.

So that's something to look at if need be.

So now I checked the carburetor and it's running rich after it's rebuild, that and I need to clean the motor oil out of the dashpot and put in lighter grade oil 🤣🙄.

All in all it has really tested my ability and character in alot of ways, but I still look back and I'm grateful that I have a permanent home on wheels.

I may next year start plans for building a proper slide off camper for the ute.

Then do the diesel conversation the following year

It's quite a handful to drive, especially in windy weather.
