engine colours? s3 petrol
i was just looking at my 2.25ltr engine in current vehicle, and the engine i bought yesterday, trying to find compression ratio stamps. no luck.. but now i am wondering of colour significance. current engine, red paint... looks like a later model than newly aquired engine, which is a drab looking light green- rather like a bathroom from the 1940's.. any info would be appreciated? (i also considered that the red engine could have maybe been repco exchange, i think they painted everything red?)

The 5 main bearing engine is a dark red/maroon colour, does it have extra webbing cast onto outside of engine block below the cast rib at or near the bottom of the block, also a one piece rear main oil seal or a proper vibration damper/pulley on the crank front snout, you may have a late model 5 bearing motor, Regards Frank.
