so long as its coming from a vehicle with the same leaf count and spring hangers they should be the same
As above is there and difference and are they interchangable, length of travel, anything?? Regards Frank.

Front are the same, or at least interchangeable, rear, swb has eye-eye, lwb has eye-pin.

John, thanks, another question, are the Defender shocks the same, eye to eye front and eye to pin rear, Regards Frank.
Original defender shocks work good in the rear of a 109 series I was told, especially if you are chasing more suspension travel.I put some in the Toy but its never seen use to tell the tale.
For fronts with more travel(army hangers and upgraded springs),I used 109 rears but made my own pin to eye conversion that bolts onto the shocky. Also untested as yet.

No - Defender front are pip - pin, although rears are eye - pin, same as the Series lwb, but both front and rear I believe have longer travel and longer fully compressed length, although I have never actually measured them. Also, as Slunnie points out the valving for coil springs will be designed to provide a lot more damping than is needed for leaf springs, and so will give a much harsher ride on leafs.

Thanks Slunnie, Andrew and John for that info, I just found an old rear set (Monroes) off my 93 Disco that are still servicable, my son can put them on till he gets a set of Bilstiens, a set of rear Defender Bilstiens revalved for leaf springs and a SWB or LWB for the front, so far have not been able to find a set of Bilsteins to suit a LWB Series III, anyone else have this problem or know if Bilstein supply shocks for the Series III, I haven't been able to find a Dealer that does, Regards Frank.
Dunno if they are the same but I bought a NOS pair of SIIA LWB rear shocks from Kotara for $25 each (at the LR Expo last year).
