Series Landrovers and their major components such as engines, gearboxes and axles all have serial numbers, and these usually end in a single letter. This letter changes with significant changes to the component (or whole vehicle), so that if you are looking for parts or to make sure that you have a particular upgrade, you need the letter, although (usually) the rest of the number does not matter. The suffix is not necessarily the same for the vehicle, engine, gearbox, axles - they could all be different (even when it came from the factory).

(The Series 2A designation comes from first added letter to the vehicle serial number in Series 2 production. Confusingly, the term "2A" continued even as the suffix letter changed, so you have Series 2A vehicles with the suffix up to "H", except the term "2B" was used for the later forward control version, which had a lot less in common with the standard 2a.)

I got the NOS one on ebay a couple of weeks ago!

Have also been looking for many months but maybe not years.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    S3 Chassis, cut into parts:(

There is also a S3 ute cab with a mostly good fire wall. These are bulky items and I will need a car trailer to move them, and is only worth doing if they are of value.
I just don't like to see potentially goods parts scraped if someone wants them
Well I made the hard decision to cut it into bits, which may end with me in the stocks being pummeled by rotten veg but at least there are many top condition bits to repair some those tired chassis out there. The 2 front hangers needed repair but the rest was perfect (better then my own ute chassis).

The cab is now in parts, was easier to transport.

it does, but needs some minor adjusting with the drill (mainly because of manufacturing tolerance than design.
