Question Series 3 Chassi vs Stage 1 cgassi

Hey Guys i'm seeking some advice, I have a stage 1 2 door wagon under going some repairs
I have come across a really nice series 3 5 door that has a nice body and a good chassi, with crapola running gear. what i wanting to know,if i can use my v8,box, running gear under the 5 door, without to much modification? Does the engine mounts align the same in the series 3 chassi compared to the stage 1 chassi? and do the gear box mounts line up aswell? The only reason for the 5 door swap if i can get it done,is so i can (have to ) take the family along and saves alot of chassi repairs on the stage 1 chassi

any help would be greatly appreciated

    cheers Lazybum

They are very different in the front xmember area, its shifted forward to accomodate the V8.Its possible to weld a new xmember in then remove the original but engineering aproval will be needed.
Gearbox/transfer are different so I expect the mounts are different too.
If you are in WA I have a PAIR of Stage1s for sale.

The Stage 1 had a 1976 Santana Chassis and is very different in the front end.
It probably wouldnt be worth the hassle although Series 3 s were converted to V8 using LT95 s in the 1980s so it is possible.

thanks for the info guys, i just finsihed talking to a guy ,who is going to hook mw up with a stage 1 chassi that is in really good nick, so my other question is,that the bodys can be interchanged with each other? if so i think i may by the 5 door and put that body on the new chassi... he works for the transport department and stated i may need to get a modification play and thats about it...

Bodies/panelwork between the 2/5 door should be a swap on the Stage1s,they are a mechanno set after all is said and done.

Body should be a straight swap from 2 door to four door, retaining the bulkhead, floor assembly and seat box. There may be a few brackets to change on the chassis is all. You will have to use the station wagon fuel tank , and you will probably need to fit a station wagon exhaust system.
