    Series III '76 29,000 genuine K's

As I have posted before, I have a Series III that has only done 29,000 k's from new. Interior is immaculate and the exterior ain't too bad either. still has original tool roll and tools as well as tyre pump wrapped in paper. The car is "as bought" on original plates (never been unlicensed) bar the stereo system.
What do you think it would be worth? I am thinking of selling her as I need something more practical.

The market for this sort of thing (one owner, low mileage) is very thin, and unless there are at least two buyers who really want something like it, it is just another Series 3. Price will depend almost entirely on condition, although originality does help.

If it has no significant rust in chassis and bulkhead, and no damaged panels, I would expect something around $3000, depending on engine, wheelbase and body type (six cylinder engine would probably reduce the price, diesel increase it, and a big premium for a five door wagon). If it is in exceptional condition, consistent with the low mileage, it could be as high as $7000.

I'm tossing up whether being in WA is an advantage or disadvantage. It is a smaller market, but people there probably have more money for this sort of thing.

Hope this helps, not very definite I am afraid.

I have a retired car dealer friend who, for thirty years, specialized in one owner original older vehicles. He says that unless the car is a sought after classic or collectable you can only expect a modest premium over a Condition B normal used vehicle of the same model. The amount of the premium is dependant on condition and if a genuine low mileage vehicle, it should already be at least a B+ vehicle needing only detailing to put on the lot. These sorts of cars were commonly referred to him by other traders to whom they were just another 19xx ?'mobile. Often higher prices for these are paid at estate auctions.

Would help to know if it was a SWB or LWB and what motor it has, I sold a very good condition 2 owner since new, 78 SWB 4cyl petrol over 2 years ago for $3500, so a bit more info is required to give an opinion, Regards frank.

    It's a 76' LWB 4 cylinder petrol.
These pics are the "before" and it is cleaner now.
I'm thinking of $5500 as it is a real "time warp" back to the 70's.
For much less than that it can live in my shed for another 32 years!
Some others on this forum have seen it and have been amazed.
The seats are as new as are the belts.
I have new rims and tyres but I have also kept the originals with bar treads fitted.

From the pictures, it does look as if something close to your figure could be met and I agree with your comment "For much less than that it can live in my shed for another 32 years!" - I'd feel much the same.

But it still comes down to there being somebody who will pay that much for a Series 3, and there won't be many of them about.
