    Front Mud Flaps

Does anyone know how the genuine front flaps were mounted on a series?

Looking at the parts book, there is a piece of flat steel along the upper edge, twisted through a right angle on each end, and bent down at the inner end. I'm guessing the outer end is fastened to the bolt holding the front end of the skirt, and the inner end is bolted to the chassis, possibly one of the bolts holding the steering box support.

That was my thought too but the bolts holding the steering box bracket are 5/16 and the holes in the flap bracket are 1/4. I was hoping that someone had a vehicle with them fitted who could shed some light.
