Series III "Game" on ebay ? Real or not ?

I'm not looking to buy this.... just an academic interest really:

Used LAND ROVER - ${State} - CarPoint Australia

    Wasn't the "Game" later than 1975 ?

The fittings, firewall colour and wheel rims seem to be the correct animals.

However the other important features of the Game, the station wagon roof, deluxe trim and rear door are missing. This makes it little more valuable than any incomplete 88" with 10 spoke wheels.

If you read the ad, the hardtop is included, as are various other bits and pieces.

However, since a Game is pretty much just a standard S3 with various off the shelf options fitted, it would be hard to distinguish from a copy without a list of serial numbers.

However, even if it is in near mint condition, I would be hard put to see it worth what he is asking.

    ...<snip>
I got lost where it says
    • Transmission: 5 speed Manual
    • Drive type 4X4
    • Engine 4 cylinder Diesel Direct Injection 3.5L (3500cc)

So what is it 2.25 petrol, 4 cyl direct injection diesel, or 3.5L something or other?

And I thought that Games had black interior instead of the sensible tan interior of the series III.
Although it mentions the hardtop is included it doesn't mention if the trim is complete.

My first car and Land Rover was a "Game" model.

I always thought they started the limited run in 1978 or so. They had the 10 spoke white steel rims, bullbar ( but nothing like the one in the add above) , rear bumperettes, station wagon hard top with sliding windows, fibre glass flares on wheel arches, black interior/door trims/seats, swing out spare wheel carrier. They had an ID plate in the engine bay as well which had production number and the colour is Dulux? Yellow Devil (Monaro colour I think).

Thats all I can think of at the minute.......
    Cheers

A common problem with CARPOINT.com is that you only have certain "default" options - that are often incorrect for Land Rover. Thus you have to explain the real features/options in the text area.. Looks nice but I think "he's dreamin' "

I would have thought a good GAME would fetch 4 ( maybe 5?) grand but in the current climate it is very hard to sell anything!
