    wheel alignment

    The manual seemed a bit vauge on setting the toe in of the series III.

    Is it better left to the wheel alignment guys with their lasers or is it more specialised and done by hand.

    Anyone tried it and if so how exactly?

    piece of cake....

    use a tape measure and/or a piece of string.

    stick the front end up on jack stands using a ball point pen put a vertical mark on each tyre tread,

    measure the distance between the 2 marks with the marks at the front and level with the centerline of the axle housing.

    spin the wheels 180 and measure the same at the back...

    I aim for 0-2 mm toe in (front measurement smaller than back)

    take it for a test drive if you like it leave it if you dont adjust it again.

    Another stupid question. Do you need to first get the measurement equal and then tap each side in by 1mm to make sure that both tires are toe in the same amount as oposed to the possibility of one tire paralell and the other in by 2mm?

    nope, just adjust the tie rod if youve got it horribly wrong when you do the self center test it will pull the steering wheel the wrong way....

    assuming that most of your adjustments are within cooee of where they need to be you wont notice it at the steering wheel.
