    Buying bits from the UK.

Been looking for a replacement speedo head for Scruby..

Got a quote from a local (and fairly well known) Land Rover parts supplier for $907.50.

Jumped on the on the web and have just ordered on from the UK from PA Blanchard. 70 quid delivered.

Haven't dealt with Blanchard before but have seen there Ads in the UK mags. So they've obviously been around awhile.

That's a hellavu mark up. I am still amazed at $900 - surely they must have quoted on the entire dash.

Totally agree there Pete have delt with them and paddocks many times and there service is very good.

But also have a look at John Craddocks they are good at hard to source parts

G'day All, I just purchased 4 new diesel injectors + air frieght to NSW, from phoning the order to arriving at my address (fri/night<<>>tues/morn) 4 days from the UK, landrover orphanage 1st class service, local diesel service owner couldn't believe it that I got them here for slightly more than he would charge for a o/haul on 1 injector anyway cheers Dennis

Hi I just orderd 4 extented pro comp shocks for my series 3 from paddok spares in uk.

The total price for the 4 shocks and a few small bits and pieces was $350.00 AUD including air freight!. I posted a thread the other week on here and got a few leads to ring in Aust. And the cheapest I was quoted was around $600.00 excluding delivery. As I said in my post I would rather support aussie suppliers but with a mark up like that how can you?.

    Cheers Will.

    That's a good deal willvine. I asked craddocks for a quote on 4 parabolics - 350 quid - just for delivery. I s'pose weight has it's limitations.

For springs go and speak to a local spring maker and tell them what you wan't and they could make a set for you. There are 2 places over here and they are about $200-$400 cheaper than the para's and both reckon they will act similar

This issue is a little annoying because I like to support local suppliers.

Another item on ebay from local supplier $130 .

From a common internet supplier in UK $75.

I know the exchange rate is favourable but

And I need 3 of them.......

The thing is land rover original parts from land rover dealers are unbelievably expensive that anything you buy aftermarket localy is easily less expensive. All they have to do is check the genuine price and undercut by quite a lot and still make a huge profit. Don't feel guilty about being smart and saving money buying from UK.

Even I have noticed the parts price scale go's from one end to the other, this even put me off completing a rover project before the internet, so much money wasted! I understand that everyone has to make a buck, but still!!! Even to this day I find wild difference in the price of parts, which should be as cheap as. Let’s face it, they made millions of s3 parts, for the mill and civil, over most of the known world. I have saved $100’s of dollars getting stuff, original, from the uk. But then if I need something in a real hurry, I have my suppliers here. I guess in reality there are not enough early land rover parts buyers here to make the parts cheap enough, and if we keep buying from the UK there will be even less suppliers. It is a tough one!
