    series 3 engine colour?

    Hi guys and gals,

What engine colour is the correct engine (4 cyl petrol) in a series three swb?

By any chance could it be described as blue?

    Thanks

    Cool,

I was hoping that because the owner seems to know very little about his car and was trying to describe the engine bay to me.

That said, he knew more about it than me...

Sounds like it would be the original engine then.

I thought duck egg blue was for series 1 engines - my series 3 was plain black but may have been painted at some stage

The circa 1970 2.25P I have on the stand at the moment has traces of duck egg blue.

I'm painting it Ford Deep Blue. (it was on special)

My S1 1600cc engine is a murky grey-blue, much darker than duck egg blue, which seemed to be standard on S2 and 2A. I think the 2 litre S1 engine had grey paint.

A good wash of the block on most engines should find the original colour somewhere, although it is likely to be faded/stained a bit after years of attack from heat, oil, petrol and rust.

My S3 4cyl (bought new 1977) is light blue - don't know the name but Duck egg blue sounds about right.

    Cheers

I thought the standard colour was oil stained rust!
