    self cancelling wipers

I have heard there is such a thing as self cancelling wiper motors for series landy's. If so how can you identify? Also 2 speed? I inherited half a dozen motors, some ex mil, it would be nice to fit one if i have it.

There are self cancelling wipers for the post 1967 series Landies, (the ones with the motor in the LHS glove tray). If they are not you have a problem in the wiring, switch or the contacts in the motor itself.

Two speed wipers were in the advertising brochures for the SIII but most were only single speed. The stage 1 however had two speed wipers so if you can acquire a motor and switch from one of those models you can retrofit then system to the earlier dual wiper systems, you do need to add the extra wires though.

Series IIA (and 3?) single speed wipers have a squarish barrel for the motor, whereas Series 3 2-speed wipers have a cylindrical barrel, like this:

NOTE - the stroke of the single-speed and 2-speed wipers is different, so you need to change the drive spindles (and housings) as well. They are noticeably different in size.

By "self cancelling" - do you mean "self parking"??? If so, for the park mechanism to work you need the correct switch. I installed a 2-speed motor (and spindles) in my IIA, but I didn't have the correct switch, so I just used a toggle switch, and time when I switch them off.

Single speed wiper motors have only 4 wires going into the plug, and two between there and the actual motor, whereas 2speed wipers have an extra one in both spots. I don't know if there was a two speed conversion for the square-motor from 2as, but I haven't yet seen one. I plotted it out carefully and modified a standard headlight switch to run it.

Yes I do mean self parking. I have a simple toggle switch and maybe I need the original switch?

Yes, the parking circuit goes through the switch.

Also, for Isuzurover, the round body is not diagnostic of two speed and single speed - round bodies were on the single speed from Series 2a suffix F (round on my suffix G for example). You may be right about the different wheel box, but there is no different part shown in the optional equipment catalogue for the wheel box to go with the two speed wiper.
