Was the front prop turning as fast as the rear?
Did the front prop keep turning when you stopped the wheel?
If yes to both of these, your problem is one of the front FWHs or axle halfshafts.

Yes, both shafts were turning at the same rate so hopefully it might be within the FWH. I will look into it more, but i should be happy that the transfer case/gearbox was not the culprit. Thankyou everyone for your advice. It has been a great help.
