Well ... No I didn't ... I purchased it from a friend of a friend, who was in the Army reserves. He drove these in the reserves, and loved them, so he bought this one.. The friend of mine, had a Series 2A LWB tabletop, which is why I wanted one too... :)

If I remember correctly, he bought it from a council. (So it's an ex council Landy) Which one, I have no idea??!! ... And so, he ended up selling it to me, because I was looking for one, and because this one was having some gearbox problems.

He was quoted some ridiculous amount, and he didn't want to spend that, so I ended up with it. (The gearbox problem (Which was, not going into gear most of the time) was just the linkages, which I readjusted, and it went great after that. .. Ever since..)

So, I have had it ever since.. I think I bought it around 1992-4.. Can't remember now, as it was a LONG time ago now.. (17-18 years +)

You've certainly got the history on it!

I had just wondered as I was flicking through our club magazine and it had for sale a SWB 1979 petrol style side with dented panels in yellow also. I wondered if they were one and the same. More just a curiosity thing.

That one could have been from the same council.. Who knows .. lol

lol, yeah... With only 3 owners, the history is easy to remember... No problems.. :D

Did some more dismantling tonight.. I've removed the drivers side guard. The drivers side foot well is definitely stuffed.. Luckily I ordered the rust replacement foot wells. Will be picking them up on Friday..

Couldn't help but noticed that the compliance plate states that it's actually a 4 Cylinder Petrol Utility. (Need to find out some way to clean it up)....

Years and years ago I bought a bottle of aluminium cleaner from Bunnings. It was so long ago that I can't remember the brand name or anything useful, other than it was the consistency of paint stripper and worked very well; simply a case of brushing it on and hosing it off.

Check out your local hardware store and see what they recommend,

Well, dismantling of Aurora (I've named my LR Aurora) is going slowly (Mainly due to nuts and bolts, which are completely seized etc..) .. Both front guards are off now (finally), and all of the dash. Next will be the seat base, then the bulkhead/firewall..

In the meantime, some parts I ordered months ago have arrived.. Here are some shots of those, from left to right... Brand new door bottoms, and new radiator.

I went and got myself some POR15 and it's associated preparation components. So once the bulkhead is repaired, it will be coated in POR15.

For those that don't know what POR15 is, you can read up on it here.. PPC It's not cheap, but for me, I think it's worth it..

Once I'm finished with this project, I won't have to do it EVER again.. (At least as far as rust is concerned, I hope :) )

Nice new doors looks like I may have some competition.

I don't know about competition, but your rebuild is what inspired me to rebuild mine in the same way.. I keep some pics of your rebuild on my desktop background to remind me.. :D

The only problem with the doors, is that I have to punch the holes for the door locks. Good thing is, that I have the punches to do this type of job, so that's all good..

Where did you get your decals, firewall trim and heater box heater valve from??

Hi Wolf I am glad I have inspired you it gives me the motivation to keep going and with xmas coming I should have some more pics to post. The firewall trim comes from SMS fabrics in Newstead, it is so close to the original it's not funny. The heater valve is a ford XY valve same as CKD Moorebank land rovers and the decals are a mixture of original, NOS and repro.
