Just went and checked my 109, and it has nothing there at all (First Photo), and my SWB has had a headlight/highbeam relay conversion (Was on it when I bought her, and tends to look like it was done at the factory, from the look of the wiring harness.) (Second Photo) and uses that hole for the horn grounding..

Little more done on Aurora. The radiator support is coming along nicely.. Here are some more photos. After paint stripping and with the rust protection coats. By the weekend, should have the final colour coat done. (Bahama Gold).. Note: Just edited out some background crud.. Will post up some more.. Could not move the radiator support as it was still wet.

Also, found some aluminium cleaning stuff. Cleaned up the compliance plate. Now it's a lot more readable..

The cleaner is called 'Artisan Metal Polish' (Comes from the same crowd that makes the POR15 stuff). It's a paste, and you just rub it on with a cloth or can be brushed on.. I used both methods, to get in between the letters, to get all the crud out.. Only took around 5-10 mins.....

I'll certainly check out POR15 & the aluminium cleaner - I hadn't heard of them either...

I don't like reading your thread too much though, it embarrasses me!

Thanks for that Dmmos... You think this thread embarrasses you. You should see lro11's thread.. That's what gave me the inspiration do it this way.. :D

Well, did some more on Aurora today.. And thought to myself 'There has to be a quicker way to remove paint and stuff from the panels?!' .. I then remembered that I bought a Sand Blasting Gun... So I decided to give it a go... Man, it's way faster to do it this way... I didn't take a before shot of the panel, nor have I completed it properly, but from what I did do, it came up great.. (Took about 10 minutes, I still have to get used to the sand blaster) See attached photo's.. I'll be getting a small bench top sandblaster. It will only be useful for small stuff.. But it's a start..

I know I'm quoting to one of my quotes, but I thought that I'd share some findings with everyone..

I decided to degrease the engine, gearbox, transfer case and other stuff, like swivel housings, diffs etc... And after that noticed that most of the gearbox came up like new.. And then decided to try the Artisan Metal Polish on it, to see the final results.. (Note: I haven't degreased it all completely.. As this was only the first attempt) I only did a small area, (With the AMP) and the results look great..(Shown in the photos)

And WOW, looks like new.. So it looks like I'll only need to repaint the metal bits..

By jingo that does look good!

I bead blasted the S1 boxes, which was the only way to get the baked-on muck off but it still doesn't quite look like a new casting - yours is much better,

Did some more work on Aurora, over the long/broken Australia Day weekend. I ended up getting hold of a pressure pot sand blasting unit. (The other one I got hold of, kept running out of grit, and was a pain in the butt to refill it all the time. Plus the compressor couldn't keep up with it.) This unit works like a charm... Just fill it up with grit (I got some garnet) and pressurise it, and off one goes sandblasting.. All I have to do now, is to come up with something to capture the grit.. As it gets everywhere.. Once I do that, the rest of the panels that need sandblasting (Including the Bulkhead, and chassis) will be a breeze..

I've taken a photo of the front diff housing I started on, I haven't completed it yet, but it's starting to look great, ready for a repaint..
