    Exhaust valve clearance 2.6 L

I wish to draw on the experience of those who have checked and adjusted the exhaust valves on the 6 cyl land rover .
The manufacturer states 10 thou but popular opinion says add another 2 thou on this at least .
Has any one come across any data, product bulletins or trials from the manufacturer or the DDept to list any alternative settings or modifications.

We seem to be all aware that valve life can be short in these engines but what did the manufacturer or the fleet user do about it seeing that they were on the market for quite some time.
    Regards
    Jim S.

    Yes, but I can't remember.

The Army manual for this motor that is in the REMLR "library" does have some written notes on it about clearances. BNut I can't rememebr what it was. It was on the scans as well, so if anybdoy has the CD can you check. Otherwise I will try and remember tonight.

Ok, the army manual has the following valve specifications

    Inlet - 0.15mm (0.006 in) Engine Hot
Exhaust - 0.25mm (0.010 in) Engine Hot or cold

However, the attached document was released later to change that to a larger opening of 0.008 in and 0.014 in hot.
