yep cause the series alternator is NOT up to a heavy electric winching session.
2 primary flavors are available, capstan and drum
to each their own getting the winch is not that hard, getting the pto however.
Does anyone know of any pto winches to suit series 2a Landrover for sale? And how much do they usually sell for? Is it worth putting a pto winch on or would an electric one be better?

I had a couple of ex Army Bamfords for sale in markets. Didnt sell. Must have been too dear.
I bought my '71 2a with an SUE (Shute Upton Engineering) PTO drum winch that needed a bit of work.
I pulled it off to stop it wearing out my front wheels and springs, and have entertained ideas of getting it going again since. The Pto unit works fine, but the winch needs a little bit of attention. I am not really sure what the going rate for them is.
