bout $800 for the 2.25D pump
but if the bottom end is OK you can just whip off the head drop in a petrol head dizzy manifold and carb for a quick conversion that'll probably run you about $4-500
Hi chaps,
ive had my eye on 2 series 3 land rovers in the local wreckers lately. one is a short wheel base with no engine and other bits and pieces missing. the other is a long wheel base 1977 diesel. it has rust in the door frames but that's about all i can see. apart from a busted up dash and a injector pump its complete as far as i can see.
im going to go get a price on the pair tomorrow, and seeing as they belonged to a fishing charter mob ill ring them up and ask why they ended up there.
the odometer was displaying '08xxx' km's so im assuming its been around a few times. whats the signs to look out for to tell if the engine is junk or not, because i would prefer to avoid an engine conversion but its not off the cards.
lastly how much would an injection pump be worth?
thanks allot, '
regards jay

so that's the price on a used but usable unit?
if say i paid $400 for the pair would i be likely to get it back if i sold them on in the future?
most likely youd get that back parting it out..
I paid $700 for a 5 door and havent really bean advertising it, only got as far as pulling the wings bonnet, gearbox and engine out and already Ive made back $150, and donated the gearbox off to someone to have a practice rebuild of and will be getting it back but IMHO if thats enough to help him get his box build right and the confidence needed to do it then the vehicle has just paid for itself double.

i know what you mean about it doubling its worth from someones learning curve.
i currently have a 89 hilux i bought cheap and am playing with, needs total engine rebuild ect and everything for them is dam expensive, but they have great resale for their age.
i want to get rid of it and have something cheap and easily modifiable to play around with for a while. ide be tipping ide prob get it back in scrap if i were to strip the aluminium body's anyway?
what would a engine for it be worth (petrol / diesel, im not fussy) in good shape? ill defiantly look into your previous suggestion as well.
thanks
regards jay
