I have a series one 88" firewall that needs both the pillars repaired, has anyone had any experience with sourcing prefabricated parts for these repairs?
.
Has any1 used the rust repair sections like the bulkhead door pillar sections and the upper bulkhead repairs as available from various suppliers? If so what have been the pitfalls?( If any) I assume they are all sourced from 1-2 makers as I could not see a demand so great as to allow 30 manufacturers!!

Just doing research before I wade into the resto of "Liz" the '70 station wagon

I have seen plenty of those parts advertised, they all look pretty good and for a reasonable price. My firewall was not bad enough for me to warrant purchasing them.... I just found some sheet metal and fabed up my bits. Mind you I'm no rivet counter and as long as it works and is road worthy I don't mind too much what it looks like![]()
Good Lord! I had thought no1 was ever going to add anything to tisI have the pillirs fairly well eaten and I thought for the sake of neatness and speed the repair sections may be the way to go, but appears few have used them. So I may have to dip a toe in the water
Cheers Scott
yea sorry scott
My car wasn't that badly rusted so couldn't justify the expense of those parts. i would be interested to see how you go with them though. Ease of use etc would be good to know

In the UK everyone and their dog supplies the repair sections, as mentioned in a earlier post can there really be that many manufacturers ?
Series 1 bulkhead repair sections a little more scarce.

Thats ok. I sort of gathered not many people stretch to doing the replacements in Australia. I am just sorting information as I have never tackled bulkhead repairs B4 . And I suspect it will be a while B4 I get into it on 'Liz' Still costing stuff to do it. Oh and TIME!![]()
Am also thinking about taking it back to a rover 6 for authenticity I have 1 but the head is corroded, More probs
Those links look the goods anyway
Cheers Scott
Scott,
4 Wheel Drives have sold some of the repair panels for years so bulkheads are being repaired in Australia. Typically they carry the door hinge pillar panel and they are getting the corner panels around the vents to keep in stock.
