Do a search on the forum. Some have replaced their regulator with an electronic one. bee utey posted it I think. bacicat built one recently.
Hi all,
I want to put a new smiths water temp gauge into my 1958 SWB 2.25 & attached is the wiring diagram. It looks like I need a voltage regulator to reduce to 10 volts. Does anybody know what I should use - I know that later series 2 or 3's have a voltage regulator / stabilizer??? but what voltage do they have coming out? Should I use one of these or something else & where to get one?
thanks in advance
regards
Steve

The voltage regulator on the later Series (2a negative earth and S3) puts out a nominal 10v - actually a series of pulses that average 10v.

Molonglo Reach, mate
Opposite Duntroon and down the road away from Civic - towards the airport.
By the roundabout on that bit of road.
9am to 2pm
I'll be there from about 9:30am with the Stage 1 - and a regulator
Edit: Come up the Monaro Highway and, before you get to the right turn to the airport, bear off to the left. Enter the park where the 'A' is and you will find us where the 'X' is...

thanks

Looks like you have one sorted, but if you ever feel a need to go to a reliable electronic version, instead of the bi metal style, then it is a cheap and easy thing to do. Details are in this post - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/1936223-post327.html
I have since done the same thing, very cheap and I have 4 regulators left as they came in a packet of 5 for a couple of bucks.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
