Thread: Identifying bolt size from parts catalogue

The short answer is no. The bolts are all the same except for the length, which depends on whether they go into threaded shackle plates, or through unthreaded holes. On a Series 3 they should all be 9/16" UNF, unless I am mistaken, and measuring the overall length of the existing bolts should give a standard length that will work.

Unfortunately my bolts are now in 3 pieces after having to cut them out of the hangers, which makes an accurate measurement difficult. I know I can order new ones based on the part numbers so no dramas. I was just trying to save some time by getting the bolts from my local bolt shop. It does seem odd though that Land Rover have gone to the trouble of giving every nut and bolt a part number but then not telling you what that part is. I realise they used a range of thread types which may be one explanation but they could at least give some idea. Anyway, lesson learned, don't assume anything with a Landy.

You can still measure the required length from where they have to fit. Just make sure the thread does not bottom and there is enough left to have a few threads past the nut. This will give you a maximum unthreaded section and a minimum overall length, which you can take to your bolt shop.
