    Wheel date stamps

    Hi all,

New to Land Rovers but not old cars, just picked up a few Series 1's, however where do I find the date stamp on the wheels?

    Cheers

I'm a little too new to be able to answer you, but the wheels do have a number stamped on the face of the wheel as you squat next to the car looking at it. Whether that's the 'date stamp' you're looking for or not, I don't know (I was hoping someone who did know would answer you before I had to)

    There is a part number
And a date stamp that reads like

    10
    -----
    50

Indicates October 1950 .. Some are in a circle (can't recall
    If that's earlier or later).

I'm not sure all rims are date stamped..

Usually the date on coil, radiator, gen and starter are same
Or very close.. Although on mine the date on rims on one is same and
On other it's a month earlier.. I assume they are original
To vehicle as date is so close

It's like coopers beer It has a "best after" date
Which is usually the date it was made 😇

To my knowledge, all early wheels ie '48/'49 have a small date circle (around 20mm dia). Years '50 to '53 are marked as per Diggers post. This covers all 80" Series 1's.

Later Series 1's are stamped on the inside of the rim and covered by the tyre and tube.

I was wondering if these date stamps are randomly marked on the rim or in a specific spot, such as adjacent to the valve etc.
