hard to come by
i use gulf western sae90 these days from supercheap $99 last time i bought it a few weeks ago
prior i was using havoline 80/90
best stuff i ever found was morris lubricants sae90
but they moved to melbourne so i stopped buying it.
I'm looking to replace the oil in the diffs/gear box /trf box and swivel hubs for the 74 109. I'm confused as to whether one type will do all, or whether I need to get different types for the diffs/trf box etc. Can someone put me right please? I popped into REPCO and asked for EP90 GL4 but I got a lot of head scratching.
cheers,
D

Find your local Roberts store and price up a 20 Ltr drum of Castrol epx 80 /90. That's a one stop shop for your gear oil needs and at $99 a drum much cheaper than buying little bottles.

When I'm here I want to be out there.
Castrol epx 80 /90 is GL-5, and therefore not suitable for Series gearboxes.

I use 75W/85 gear oil(Nulon synthetic) in the transmission, which is the closest I can get to the EP90 spec without going to a GL-5 or paying big bucks. I use a fully synthetic oil in the gearbox as I've found it gets quite hot when worked hard (eg pulling a camper trailer around Tassie) and I believe synthetic oils tolerate heat better. I've found that on a long climb with the trailer on behind I can't put my hand on the gearbox housing after a while.

Just gear and transfer box.
That what needs the GL-4.
I put it in the overdrive also.
