    Most British bikes ended up using Lucas.
    Some early stuff was Miller and Wipac (Wico Pacy) made lamps, lenses and some of the low end switchgear, horns etc. Still going strong....http://www.wipac.com/about-wipac/history.aspx

    Never had too many electrical problems but I do remember cleaning Lucas handlebar switchgear and packing with Vaseline before every winter....... I also remember one of the 'clockwork' springs that applies pressure to the brushes on a dynamo breaking, left the cover off and used an elastic band round the outside to get home......Still have that bike !
