    XA Falcon brake master cylinder on a SIIA

    Hi Folks,

    well, this is weird. During my renovation I found the brake lines were badly rusted so decided to replace them. In the process of working out what I needed I realised my lines were wildly different to the series set ups I was seeing on various sites offering brake lines kits. When I had the engine conversion 'engineered' in NSW the guy made comment about the brake master cylinder and servo, and included them on his approval and I thought nothing more of it. Well after going mad trying to identify the set up today it turns out this is a XA/XB/XC Falcon master cylinder and servo.

    Does anyone else out there have a falcon master cylinder set up on their series vehicle? It fits perfectly on the car so it seems like a conversion that others might have done but I can't find anything online about it.

    Yep I did the same on my series III about 18 years ago. Used it because the ford one i found had a double booster or something. Brakes were fantastic, towed a poptop with a tinny on top around Oz for two years with no issues.

    Perenties use the same booster and master cylinder as the XD wagons so even JRA thought the ford/PBR products were an improvement over the Land Rover offerings.

    I've been thinking of using the XA/XB/XC one without the booster on my SIIB because its a much shorter assembly that may fit behind the grill/bonnet. I'll then use an inline booster at least on the front.

    You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Yes, the master cylinder is quite short and the booster is a lot thinner than the standard SIII one. The whole assembly fits with plenty of room without any modification to the wing panels at all. I assume that's why they've used it. The only minor downside is the outlets are on the right hand side and underneath, but they are accessible without too much problem even with the wing still on.
