    Door Seals

Does anyone have a source of door seal that's close to the original.

Some years back I got some from Clark Rubber, listed as land Rover door seal. The lip is a bit too big, sits too high and the aperture for the steel strip too large.
Just took delivery of some seal from Paddocks. Aperture for the steel strip not wide enough and almost triangular in shape ? Lip seems to sit too low. I'll guess the manufacturer, probably comes in big blue bags hence ordering only a couple of metres just to see what it was like.

Local extruder claims they could get it from Malaysia but struggling to get them to quote. Dread to think what it would cost to get a die made and there would probably be a minimum run....

Is it that hard to get something close to the original ??

    Thanks Paul,

I'm looking for a seal that's fitted as per original, mainly for my Series I.
I have the hollow rivets and need to make a clinching tool, problem is finding the correct (or close to original) seal profile.

The many little things that need fixing on a 1961 Series 2 I acquired from a deceased relative's estate about 18 months ago include door seals. Enquired about them when purchasing other parts from Anthony and Bev Johnson at Bayswater, Vic. Apparently Defender ones will fit with minor modifications. However, reckoned they can get the original type that comes in pieces and attaches with rivets. Undoubtedly would be other LR parts suppliers who could also get them if they can. A bit more expensive than Defender ones. Probably better if desired to keep the vehicle somewhat original where practicable.

I've heard of others mentioning the seals in pieces but need to see a sample before wasting any more money. The seal material I ordered should be able to be used with the original steel strips (if not badly rusted) but the profile isn't close to the original stuff.

Close to $30 for the front of the door, similar for the rear of the door https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/se...seal&sb=Search !!

    I'll keep looking.
