    Brake Booster Vacuum Loss switch

    Hi All,

I bought a new booster (STC1816) for my 2A from paddocks, based on their description as it being suitable for series 2 and 3. It seems my original brake pedal is from a Defender, so I can't use that pedal with the new booster.

So I have now acquired an s3 brake pedal / tower etc which came with booster and master cylinder, but I want to use my new booster and master cylinder.

What I didn't noticed on the new booster is the hole for the vacuum loss switch, and it didn't come with the switch or any blank plug.

The S3 booster I acquired did come with a vacuum loss switch (looks like 589219) , which I removed, to install in the new booster from paddocks.

The problem is, I can't seem to thread the vacuum loss switch from the old booster into the new booster, and I don't want to keep try and strip the thread.

Does anyone know if there are several vacuum loss switches for these booster, apart from the 589219 and hence different threads ?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks
    John

Hi Ian, that's great you had the plug. I tried to find a suitable bolt to plug the hole thinking it was a 3/8 bsp (british standard pipe).as the guys at the bolt shop thought, but then the guys at enzed tell me it's actually an mpt thread, which is tappered. Anyway, they kinda re-tapped the hole and i managed to get the switch inserted using some hylomar to seal it (i hope).

Now all I need to know is how the switch is supposed to work, no or nc and what colour wire to use ????

    Cheers
    John
