I'm on to my steering wheel now, and I know several people have posted about how they did there. From memory the process is sanding and filing the cracks out, fill the cracks and paint.
I tried searching for previous postings, but failed, so can someone point me to any posts about this, failing that, what's the recommended filler and paint to use ??
Thanks for your offer of the filler, I might take you up on that yet.
I am curious about your choice of an epoxy filler over a plastic filler, is the epoxy more compatible / like the original steering wheel material ? I was "widening" the cracks with a dremel to allow more filler to go in, and I noticed the original steering wheel material is not very hard, so I would have thought an epoxy filler would actually be harder than the original, did you find that ?
Also, after filling/sanding, what prep/paint did you do / use ?
I dug out and filled the cracks on mine with liquid metal filler (all I had) wet and dried the whole wheel, etch primed it, then two coats of 2 pac black paint that had been in the cupboard for years
