    The early model indicator switch that is on a panel in the dash intrigues me.

    Says it self-cancelling, how could that work?

    They had a clock work in them , like friction model cars when you pulled them back wards they wound up a spring when released the spring would slowly un wind tutning the switch off. Lots of British cars used them , one I can remember was the Austin A40 Farina. There were alsoones that worked on vacuum that would slowly release the vacuum alowing the switch to return to the off position.
