SubscriberHi All, I want to replace my gear lever know with a shiny new one, and the new one looks like a press fit and not threaded, but I can't seem to remove the old one. Do I need to cut it off ?
Thanks
John

SubscriberPress on I assume as there is no locknut.

Hi John.
you may need one of these.

Earlier ones were threaded, unless changed at some point. Mushroom shaped, with lock nut.
Later ones were pushed on. Round shaped.
Sound like the new one is later type.

SubscriberI think you're right Shane, it's definitely the round type, so I guess I need one of those retainers.
So, any clues on how I get the old knob off ?
Thanks
John
I just put my fencing pliers under the old knob and tapped it up and off.
