7.50R16 but it wouldn't surprise me if most are on 235/85-16 these days.

The ones on the S1 we picked up at a council auction.LT tyres that came off their utes new, and were replaced with more suitable off road tyres.

They are a different size from what you need,205 something.Bridgestones.

So maybe try the auctions or check out some second hand tyre places,you never know what they may have.

No rubbing / clearance issues running 235 on the original rims? If not this is brilliant news.

Dunlop Road Gripper 225 95 16.

Sometimes you can find them quite cheap as they come off 79 series cruisers

The size is the new metric equivalents of the 7.5 x 16

I fitted SP Dounlop Roadgrippers F (112) 7.50/16 with Tubes on my S3 SWB daily.
Very happy with them. Real good in our continuous Northern NSW Wet weather.

It is a light truck, so should have light truck tyres!

7.50 x 16 is the correct size, but the choice is getting pretty small these days.

You cannot reasonably fit tyres much wider on the standard 5.5" rims. Wider tyres may touch the chassis on full lock, but this is simply a matter of adjusting the steering stops.

Note that the wheels fitted to the 110 and early Defender (FV2000727) look the same but are offset slightly further out - these get you a better turning circle even with standard tyres if you adjust the stops.

Since you do not have power steering, you will probably regret fitting tyres that are wider than standard, unless you are a gym enthusiast!

Avoid changing the overall diameter (causes speedo error) - which means 225/85 x 16, if you can't get 7.50 even though this will cause slightly heavier steering and require steering stop adjustment.

There is no practical reason for anyone today to use crossply tyres on a Series except being a stickler for originality - and radials have been an option since Series 2.

I managed to pick up ten Dunlop Road Gripper from tyre outlet in Burwood can’t think of the name but it’s just past the large Nissan dealership. You might try them they take them off DWELP Toyota’s as they require a higher load rating I paid $150 each and came with the Toyota 5 stud rims. So if anyone wants some trailer rims I have ten here. They are 225/95R/16 I have fitted tubes as the original rims require them they cost around $30 each fitted. image.jpgimage.jpg
