    Series 4-pinion diff

In amongst some parts I've purchased are a complete Series 4-pinion diff and a 4-pinion diff centre (NOS, still had protective grease).

Were these an option, Army or aftermarket ?

I'm not aware that they were, but possibly fitted to some One Ton models or a non-factory after market. What ratio is the complete diff? And could it have been for a Rover car?

Got a photo, McNamara were 4 pinion diff centre . Along with maxi drives I used to install them with and without diff locks for club members back in 1980's . Short nose P38 carriers can easily be modified (in a lathe) to fit a series housing for a cheap 4 pinion upgrade.

    Photos attached.

Came from someone who used to part out Land Rovers.

They are Jack McNamara diffs ,
If hole in the centre cross has a spline they are diff locks, you just need the special short axle. Cant remember spline count but series half shafts wont fit.

The centre on it's own will take Series half shafts, clear through the centre, no splines.
The assembled one is fine spline with spider gear pin straight across plus two short spider gear pins.

Also found some unusual (well I've not seen them before) half-shafts. Picture attached.
