Series 3 speedo - Who repairs in Sydney or who has one to sell?

    Hi all,

The speedo isn't working on the stage 1 despite the new speedo cable. Does anyone know of any instrument repairers/testers in Southern Sydney? I used to use St George Instrument Repairs but he's long gone. Failing that, would anyone have a working speedo they want to part with?

Did you Google “Automotive instrument repairs Sydney”? I guess not because several came up, including one in St Marys that I used over 50 years ago.

Note that there are nine different speedos for Series 3, depending on km/miles, trip or not, and tyre size.

Ok, that makes it more indepth then. Was there a more narrow range for the Stage 1s?

Yeah, cheers for that. St Marys is on the other side of Sydney to me... hence why i asked about repairers in Southern Sydney.

If I recall correctly, Smiths speedos have a set of numbers on the scale specifying the number of turns per mile/km.

Another thing to check before looking for a speedo. The speedo drive gear is driven by a worm gear on the T/C output shaft. It is not splined or keyed, but relies on being clamped by the nut on the end of the shaft. If this nut is loose,it will not turn, and the speedo will not work!

There are only four speedos for the Stage 1- mph or kph, and with and without trip.
