Brass Union for Clutch Slave Cylinder Bleed Nipple

    Hello All,

Series owners, could you please check your spare parts and put aside in case you might need it shelves for the following parts. Yes, they are all still available via United Kingdom suppliers - however the cost of parts is way less than the cost of freight to Australia. So unless you are just about to place a big order and could tack some more parts on and I could contribute to the freight costs; I am after the following clutch slave cylinder related parts....

90622182 - Banjo clutch slave - also described as: Brass Union for Clutch Slave Cylinder Bleed Nipple
    216914 - gasket and
512235 - bolt banjo fuel feed

Please see that attached diagram sourced 18th September 2023 from Clutch Release Mechanism - Except 109in V8 - Find Land Rover parts at LR Workshop.

Please let me know if you would like to either sell me the parts or can add them to an upcoming overseas parts order. Thank you.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

I don't think either of my Series II's has that fitted.
All it's doing is pointing the bleed nipple forward rather than backwards

From memory there is a hole in the transmission tunnel cover to get to the nipple on both of mine, or do it from underneath.

That picture is Series 3, so you won't find the bits on a Series 2.

    Hello Colin and John,

Yes - you are both correct. The part is off a Series III. I am also working on one of my Series IIIs, also a late model Series 2A and my 110 Defender. That offset banjo fitting makes bleeding the clutch slave cylinder so much easier. Probably the first time that the clutch slave cylinders were replaced from when the vehicle was new the old slave cylinder would have been thrown out and went into the bin with those parts still fitted to it. The replacement slave cylinders do not come with this offset. Only one of my Series 3 still had those parts still fitted. That offset makes bleeding the slave cylinder so much easier!

I would like to experiment and find out if the offset could be fitted to the 110 to make access to the bleeder on the clutch slave cylinder easier.

The fittings are also shown on 1G 05 4RE137 in the Land Rover Series III Parts Catalogue.

Colin, today is a day off for me. I just came back from removing the clutch slave cylinder from underneath the 2A. I had also worked on the 2A yesterday. At the time approached access to the slave cylinder from the inside of the cabin. I should have posted on AULRO and then waited for a reply.

At least today I found out why the clutch did not work on the 2A when I bought it. There is no plunger inside the slave cylinder and the rubber boot, the push rod and the two locking nuts are missing in action. As the saying goes... "someone has been here before".

    Kind regards
    Lionel

You might find it worth taking the diagram and the slave cylinder to a long established brake place and/or your local hydraulics supplier. You might be surprised at what they come up with. And probably beat importing it on cost and delivery.

    Hello John,

If I keep working on my various Land Rovers and have the same results as I did today, I will not have to worry about having an order where the cost of the parts is less expensive than the delivery charges!

    Kind regards
    Lionel
