    05 D3 - Water In Footwells - No Sunroof

    Hi,

My Father's Disco 3 without a sunroof is getting serious amounts of water leaking in both in the passenger and drivers side, and we have checked:
    - the A/C drains either side of the bell hosing and yes they are connected to the outlets from the A/C
    - the wind screen hasn't been replaced and we popped off the cover below the windsheild (after removing the wipers), and everything appears aok there.
So just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions?

    Cheers,
    AP

Mine does this as well if caught in a really heavy storm sometimes. Only on the passenger side though. I've had this looked at and I don't think the problem was found. A drainage problem of some sort.

Yep the water is clear, not oily or with any inhibitor in it.

    Cheers,

Not had this problem with my D3, but had it twice with my D2 TD5 ES. One time it was the airconditioning drains clogging up and overflowing into the fotwells, we tried clearing it with a coathanger which worked for a little while but then clogged up again. The dealer had to fix this, it was a huge job, a full day with the whole dash out, nasty.

The second time involved a leaky roof, it took two windscreens, two headliners, and welding to fix this, it was a leak in the welds of the roof when it was finally tracked down.

Very similar problem to the one I had with my Freelander 2. Sorry I am a bit of a technical ignoramus, so please forgive my explanations.
First time around the dealer found that there was a large hole in the chassis where the handbrake lever/cable comes into the car (a manufacturing fault as there should of been a plate in that position - there wasn't) They fixed this, however the water problem persisted.
The second attempt resulted in them finding a similar problem in the firewall of the engine bay - copious amounts of water were running down the windscreen, down the engine bay firewall, and into this hole, finding it's way into the rear passenger footwell (I'm talking litres of the stuff). It was only on the left hand side of the vehicle though.
    Hope this helps.

Experienced same in TD5 ES D2. It was the aircond drain clogged up. Dealer fixed in less than 10 mins.

they did the first time for me too, but it came back, they did however fix the full deal under warranty, so I doubt they were doing unnecessary work.

Cheers all, the old man is checking out the drains and we will see how that goes.

    Many thanks,
    Andrew P.

    Talking

    Found it!

Apparently he took off the roof racks and failed to insert a plug or bolt hence every time it rained, it went down the roof channels straight into the hole, down the a-pillar and into the foot wells.

    Cheers All,
    AP
