D4 protectant pack from LR - necessary?

Due to pick up my new D4 next week, and I'm wondering if the protection pack - body, leather, rims - is necessary? Seems like a lot of extra money...

    Advice would be much appreciated

These packs are profit items for the dealer. And very expensive for what you get. Poor value for you great money spinner for them.

If you really want it done most window tint places will do it for a fraction of the cost.

For leather seats I use Armour-all leather wipes. Have been using them for years.

My tint is being done by local tinter for $490 and I got my local Ming to do paint protection for $279. I got the paint protection as the car was quite hard to wash after a weekend in the bush and teh ming treatment on my wife car has kept it looking great, even after 5 years

Also remember to add any extra's after the initial purchase so you don't have to pay any additional luxury car tax.

Dont waste your money. Just buy some quality leather protector from the auto shop and re apply every 6 months.

The dealer stuff is a waste of money... and tinting is so cheap... im getting the 20% tint for $275.

All the overpriced accessories and extras they try to flog you during the excitement of your purchase is one of the biggest cons in the industry. You sign up then the attractive female "customer relationship officer" comes over and flogs all the extras. Playing on the guilt thing e.g. "you spend all this money on a beautiful new car, just spend a few dollars more for protection blah"

Great to fund their next holiday but not for your pocket.

If buying anything extra extended warranty may be of value.

Use the money for something else

Agreed, does not even help with selling the car later..

Meant to say about the extended warranty. $2400 from my local dealer for the allianz 3 year 60,000km mirrored manufacturers warranty. Even if I sell after 5 years there will be 2 years warranty left, as long as i sell privately. Good selling point in my books

Hi Misheemee, Sounds like you have received some good advise. Go with a good quality local window tinter. Don't use armourall on your leather or any other part of your car as it contains silicones. A good tip is to get the Jaguar leather protectant from you Landrover dealer for your seats. Awesome product. Use a good quality polish but you should re-do it every 3-4 months.

Thought that was the case but wasn't sure, thank you for all of the great advice. Also think that the money would be better spent on an extended warranty!
