    Gearbox failure?

Hi Guys, i'm in Italy; my D3 is jammed in P and the gear lever refuse to move in any direction ; on the display there is E and many errors: change breakdown, EPB breakdown, HDC not avayable. The auto doesn't depart, the dashboard is like a Christmas tree and I has found the fuse of 10 Ah in the engine bay referred, i suppose, at the gearbox electronic control module, burnt. I have changed it but has still burnt. Some idea?
    Thanks in advance.
p.s. : sorry for my english language

There could be a short circuit to earth somewhere that's blowing the fuse.

To get the gearbox out of park, remove the park brake switch and look for a small white lever at the back of the gear lever mechanism. If the lever is pressed (I can't remember if up or down), the mechanical lockout mechanism is released and the gear lever can be moved out of park. This allows the vehicle to be moved, but it wont overcome the short circuit.

    What Graeme said.
On the D4 you remove the cup holder to access this same white lever & lift it UP.
Assume it would be the same on an Italian D3.

PS. your English is great. Much better than my Italian

News: today the auto has departed but the burnt fuse stays. We will see.
Some idea of where the interruption could be?

Which fuse is blown and is the engine petrol or diesel? The fuse positions are numbered and knowing which fuse has the short may assist in finding the cause. The fuse informaton is in the handbook.

Sorry; was not the black cable negative mass but the red cable at the starter motor (I believe).
The doubt stays on: why the fuse 30 is burnt but the starter motor goes ? Boh .....

Fuse 30 supplies only the transmisison control module and a capacitor that must be mounted very close as they share the same earth wires. Either a wire somewhere has chaffed its insulation or there is a short circuit within the gearbox TCM/valve body. A chaffed wire could be between the fuse box and the TCM or between the TCM and the gearshift mechanism. Unplugging the TCM would only reveal if a wire is chaffed between the TCM and the fuse box. Some serious investigation is required.
