    D4 windscreen

Hi, just back from trip, along Gibb River Rd, up into Mitchel Plateau, across Duncan Rd, Buntine Hwy to Top Springs, thru Gregory NP Bulita stock route, Buchanan Hwy to Dunmarra, and home to Sunny Coast, 11000 km in total, 3500km, on dirt, corro, rock and sand, D4 WAS FAULTLESS, it just loved it. I know some have troubles, but the D4 just ate it up with class and style.(towed a 2ton Kimberley Karavan the whole way)
Only let in dust at tailgate, water drains sucked dust up and out off small holes in seal, bit of tape problem solved.
Pirelli scorpion tyres 19" afew marks on tyres and rims but not even a flat
(carried all those tyres for nothing)
BUT 3 major cracks in the windscreen, just got a quote $1172, and haven't got one. Question is does anyone know if D3 is the same as D4
    Cheers Ken

As long as you "specified" glass coverage....otherwise you cop the bill. Some companies don't even offer glass coverage any more....check the fine print.
    cheers.

The really good news is all those kays and no tire probs!!! Maybe the scaremongering is just that?

Roamer did you put the Scorpions on from new? My dealer refuses to swap them before I take delivery - is that normal?

    Hi Ken,
Your post gives me more confidence for the 3 week trip we are about to do in our D4. Tyres remain my biggest concern. Which scorpion tyres did you go for (ATR?). I'm trying to get a hold of these but near impossible

Too late to go elsewhere, the D4 should be here in 3-4 weeks!!!!

Did you have to pay more for the change over Scorpions?

    Hi Roamer,

Just completed a similar trip, didn't tow anything but completed 8250km without any problems whatsoever. I had ordered 6 Pirelli 19'atr's but after waiting 3 months they only gave me 4 so I told them to stick them! Bought 6 Goodyear Wrangler MTR's, brilliant although they were very noisy. Took them off as soon as I arrived home in Perth but I will put them back on before my next trek. I think the the people who criticise 19' tyres are simply basing their criticism on what they think and not what they have done. The Disco 4 and 19'' wheels performed very well and over some of the worst roads that I have ever driven on.
    Cheers
