Capacitor in automatic gearbox

Does someone know the function of this capacitor at the right of the automatic gearbox?
Mine is spoiled but the gearbox works the same.

My guess would be to prevent /reduce radio interference as the solonoids are activated.

From the WSM..

A radio interference suppressor is located on a bracket on the right hand side of the transmission, forward of the selector shaft lever. The suppressor is connected into the transmission wiring harness and prevents solenoid operating noise affecting the audio system.

Was this the cause of the blown fuse you reported elsewhere?

Yes, it is.
Water coming from the system of the conditioned air that fell on the capacitor.
Is it important or can I live without it?
And, most important, does someone know where to find the exchange?

No harm without it, other than possible static on the radio during gear changes.
As they are normally sealed from the weather and they don't wear out, you could fit one from a wreck if the dealer price for a new one was unreasonable.

8 €uro is the price, not unreasonable; the problem is that it is not available in Uk and in Europe to the moment, even to the ZF. I will wait.
I have ordered him to two different dealers and I will take what arrives for first, if and when it will arrive .
