    General Grabber TR Tyres......

I've purchased a set of Wolf rims for my County and want to fit a set of decent road tyres, I was thinking if Landrover fit the grabbers to new defenders they must be pretty good, so are they a good tyre ??? and are they easily obtainable ??
Does anybody use Maxtrac LT tyres ?? the secondhand alloys that I purchased and have now taken back ( wheels did not fit ) had these tyres fitted and they looked really good. I've made a few enquiries but nobody seems to have any knowledge of them.

These will be purely on road tyres, as I'll keep the old rims with MT's fitted for playing.

    Hi Jerryd,
I had these tyres on my D2 for a few years before i changes to MTR's. In my personel experience i think they are a great tyre. I travelled across the Simpson with them on & had no punctures & no problems at any time with them.

If they are only going to be for on road then i think they would be fine. If for some general off road they are still a good tyre.

    Cheers

I agree - they are a good tyre - you'll get about 90,000km out of them too. The stock size (235/85) is widely available in the bush. These tyres are good in just about every situation - other than mud. Just lower tyre pressures as required. They are a good all rounder - having said that - I'm running Mickey Thompson Muds.

Spotted these recently 5 x LT 235/85/R16 4WD Commercial Light Truck Tyres - eBay Tyres, Wheels, Tyres, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 31-Aug-10 20:30:44 AEST).

As you can see, they didn't sell, despite the very cheap price. Might be worth your while to try and contact the seller and get them to relist them.

I had the Grabbers as standard on my new 2003 Td5 Defender and thought they were a good tyre.
Very few chips after the GRR and Kalumburu Rds and heaps of tread left after 66K when I sold the vehicle.
I then got the General AT2 (Ithink that's what they're called) for a 300Tdi and they too were a good tyre.
I may even get them to replace the BFGs on the plastic Prado when they wear out.
    Alan.
