    A Pillar Grab Handle/Gauge Pods

Does anyone know of anyone who manufactures either a grab handle for the A Pillar or a set of gauge pods for the A Pillar in a defender or county? I opted for rock/tree sliders instead of side steps so my Missus would love a grab handle on the passenger side A pillar and I'd like a few gauges on the driver side A pillar.

Hi Weeds, I should have mentioned that this is a Puma. The Puma has a grab handle as part of the dash (directly in front of the passenger seat), but grabbing it when you;re standing outside the car would pull you across, not up! My 1985 County 110 had a grab handle at the end of the dash which was in a better position for getting in and out of the car but it wouldn't fit in the Puma.

The door handles are the same distance apart as the screw on the A-pillar cover. Just need a door handle and longer screws. I was all set to do this but SWMBO didn't think it helped her and wanted one above the door. So easy enough to try, justuse one of your door handles.

I fitted a grab handle across the top of the door, if that is of any use to you. See thread here: Installing a grab rail/handle in Defender

Post 14 has a photo of how I did it.

I also installed a grab handle above the passsenger door in my Defender 300tdi - see pic. Made up an aluminium plate that goes under the headlining. The handle screws through the headlining into the plate using the original screws. The handle came from a Holden I believe.

I made two plates, originally intending to put one on the drivers side, but decided I didn't need it. You're welcome to the plate and a handle if it suits your need.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and for Vin Rouge's generous offer of sending me the spare unit!

I have a couple of standard grab handles in the garage that I removed when installing the cargo barrier. Unfortunately the spacing of the holes in the handle doesn't match the holes in the A pillar and I'm not prepared to drill any holes in the A pillar because it to structurally too important to mess with, so I'm going to look at the ideas that were posted about installing a bracket and handle above the door. Even if my wife doesn't find it useful for getting into the car she'll certainly use it a lot while we're off road. I currently have an Outback roof console on order so I'll sort out the grab handle whilst installing the console. I'm a bit OCD (owning a defender is a special kind of hell for anyone with OCD tendencies) so I'd have to have a hidden bracket and the matching grab handles throughout the car

Vin, how did you fasten the aluminium plate in place?

Drilled up through the lip above the door and bolted in the plate. There's already a couple of holes in this piece that take the roof lining studs. They prise out so it's simple to ease down the lining and drill without mucking up anything visible.
