Hi Guys,
Well I'm soon to have a secondhand 3.9 v8 in my posession, has done 250k, some gaskets need doing, valley cover & rocker cover. I need to fit my v belt timing cover to the motor, so I thought whilst I'm there I should change cam, lifters, and timing chain. Does anyone know of a good cam that would be give a few extra horses. I think power down low would be better. I've heard of a few but then I hear of people not liking one and prefer another. Is there a general consensus of one in particular that everyone agrees on that would suit a RRC? apart from the original?
Also some say that fitting a v belt timing cover to a serpintine engine that the crank is longer/spacer required or something along those lines. What is the truth behind this? Is it a straight swap?
Is it going to be EFI or carbs? I have heard a 3.9 EFI cam will do wonders for a carb engine. If it is EFI then you will need to stay very close to stock unless you are chipping.
Hi, yeah it's efi with 14cux, I also have unichip and extractors.
Cheers
Steve
