Does your Puma make a beeeeep after the EGR self-cleaning?

    Puma drivers,

My Puma makes a 2-3s beep after its EGR self-cleaning cycle after engine shutdown. It has done so since Day 1, and I thought this was normal.

But on another forum it seems I am one of the few experiencing this. I have told my stealer about this, and I can assure you they will say 'This is normal' in 4 days' time when I go get the car. So I would like some numbers to prove to them that it is NOT normal, hence this poll.

Please will you submit your answer to this poll?

    Thanks a mil!

    Gary from AliveTuning said this:

I am sure the noise you're hearing is from the electronic servo that controls the vanes on the turbo.

Most modern fuel injected cars have an electic stepper motor to control idle speed, which also make this noise. Anyone ever played with servos on a radio controlled car? These also make a similar sound.

Since the noise these make is quite high frequency, people with hearing loss (age related?) may not be able to hear it.

    Regards,

    Gary.

If this noise can only be heard by people with no hearing loss then those numbers are looking pretty scary:

85% of all defender drivers suffer from hearing loss!

Got the landy back - they say it's normal.

For those of you with hearing, err, challenges, the beep should be audible on this video I just recorded with my phone

Listened to the video several times and can't hear a beep.

I can hear a clunk or loud clicking sound just after engine stops - is this what you call a beep?

No, the 'clunk' is the EGR self-cleaning cycle aka the 'chuka-chuka' noise. This occurs 5 times in a row, then there's a beep. It's faint on the video, not the best quality since it was taken with my phone.

It could be one of those sounds that older people cannot hear?
