Bad noise and smoke from D4 3litre

After 3 hours highway driving my D4, (MY '10,13000km), 400kms since I refueled, passing through a large country town stopped at lights after about 10mins in traffic. When I moved off, with light acceleration heard back-fire sound from engine, mass of blue smoke at rear and zero power. With engine idling, rolled to stop. No warnings on display. Stopped engine, restarted and as no dealer in the town, with some trepidation drove 250km home with engine sweet all the way. Has anyone experienced this heart stopping experience and what is the cause? - Excess oil in turbo combusting?

Occurred twice with mine and both times having joined fast traffic that should have only needed moderate acceleration but which resulted in foot flat to the floor and barely moving and hunting between gears. Rather embarrassing!

There is a fix that is mostly software to keep the 2nd turbo slightly in use all the time to avoid oil build-up in its inlet tract, which is closed-off below about 2500 rpm prior to the fix. I'm expecting mine will at least get the s/w update shortly.
