    Inter-cooler Mounting Points

    Hey Guy's

Warranty is just about over (5months) and it is time to think about some engine up grades, mainly to make towing a bit easier.

Can any body tell me if the mounting brackets (for the inter-cooler) are same on the PUMA as the TD5 ?

They look the same in the PUMA work shop manual.

...and is there is any reason (if the brackets are the same) why I couldn't use an after market inter-cooler to suit a TD5 on the PUMA ?

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

    Cheers

Thought I would put this back at the top,

Really would like some thoughts, experience and or knowledge on this one.

Too much money to spend "on-Line' if incorrect....

    Cheers

These are images of the a PUMA engine/intercooler.

All of the images that I have been able to find appear to have the same inlet/outlet as the TD5 ? It also appears to be consistent with the ASE intercooler for a TD5, but pictures can be deceiving...

I am very interested in your observations and comments,

    Thanks heaps for your help.

This from the ASE web site:-

"Our Discovery/Defender cores are designed to bolt up to the existing factory position making installation simple for any DIY handyman. ASE uses a core which is over twice as thick as the factory unit resulting in much more air flow potential and greater cooling of the charged air."

    Hope it helps.

I spoke to ASE yesterday arvo, they only stock intercoolers for the TD5 and couldn’t say if it would fit the PUMA.

I have managed to learn that the top and front bolt holes/brackets will fit but as yet cannot confirm if the diameter of the hoses are the same and if the inlet/outlet position on the end tanks are the same.

British Off Road in Qld said they are pretty sure the TD5 version will fit, but will have to wait until Monday to confirm.

PWR said they will make one if they can get a sample of a PUMA intercooler to go off. They also only stock a TD5 version.

I have also sent an email to Devon in the UK about the "Ali-Sport" - no reply as yet.

I cannot believe it is so hard to just buy an intercooler for a PUMA...
