Hey Chomps,
I'm no expert, I ask more questions here than I answer by far - but my purchase was a 96 Disco with roughly the same on the clock as yours and dual fuel.
I've had a few problems with it, it's the car you love to hate. You love it when it's working properly and hate its guts when it's not :-)
Anyhoo - there's a few things that have happened to mine since I bought it.
The perhaps biggest is that I discovered after buying it that LPG tanks have to be checked and serviced after 10 years. Mine is due now and I'm waiting till hols to get it done. Approx cost varies but round here seems to be about $500.
Mine threw it's headgasket out the door two days after I bought it. Being a V8 means you get 2... That set me back about $1500 but I had a mechanic do that for me, and he put stellite (sp?) valve seats in at the same time. There was very little wear on the engine though which was nice - he could check when the lid was off.
Make sure it's got anti-freeze in the water system. All the water jackets will corrode if not. Mine had just enough, it's got 50% now. Antifreeze isn't in there to stop it freezing - just to stop it corroding.
Buy yourself a multimeter - you'll have fun with electrics :-) Mostly relays that go, or switches. If you've got the electric seats the drivers side switch is probably knackered, but there's tutorials on here on how to fix them.
Um - I can't think of much more - the gurus will let you know all the really good stuff :-)
