Extended warranty

My black beast is out of warrenty in October and today I received an invertation by the dealer to extend it for another 3-4 years. As I have plans to change the exhaust, tune, ect, and all the current mods I will let it go. I, like many Defender owners, was under the cloud of doubt that Defender owners would not be covered by this offer. Very confussing.

I am almost sure there is no such thing as a Land Rover extended warranty for the Defender. They dropped it some time ago. This warranty that you have been offered sounds like an "aftermarket" or third party warranty and may or may not be worth two bob. Have a very close look at what it covers and who it is through before you pay a cent.

I wont be taking it on. The Puma is the first vehicle I ever bought new and I cannot wait till its out of warranty to play with it.

Done lots but just got knocked back for pinion oil seal because I have an ARB locker. I will wait until the last day before I let loose just in case. Its only done 20000km so if it brakes I have a good case.

Same, same. Warranty is up in October, not a peep from the dealers regarding extended warranty.
I know you’re dealing with Ozy Park and I’m dealing with Cannington. Same mob, different location.
I feel the same way as you. When the warranty runs out, it’s play time.
I had planned to gather a shed load of goodies to put on once it ran out. Hasn’t quite panned out that way. Bugger.
Never mind, I still have one or two odds and sods to fit, mainly electrical.
Onward and upward.

Extended warranty's are loaded in favour of whoever is backing it. I asked about it and the service manager told me to avoid it. There are lots of exclusions as to what is covered. All of the expensive bits and jobs are excluded under various clauses. You will pay a lot of money for supposed peace of mind but when you go to claim you will see how difficult it is.Lots of money, for nothing in return. Avoid like the plague, as they say.

I got the extended warranty when I had Lara (TD5 Defender)...

Paid for itself quickly when I drowned the alternator in Toolangi with the Vic boys..

New alternator for nix!

Even in the highly modified state, they always paid out.

As for LR std warranty - they cannot legally void anything that isn't directly influenced by the modifications you made. So start playing...

Eg. Fitting a bigger intercooler / exhaust cannot be used to void a claim for a leaking gearbox...

The ARB locker / pinion seal leak - I can understand...

Maybe over there! But the ones Ive had here in Oz have been very accessible and useful

I'm waiting for the tax return for bits for mine. Done lots but exhaust and performance goodies I have to con the wife. This comes after spending thousands on a WRX then I soldl it to buy a Puma.
